Major, Pittman Announce Grants for Hyde Park, West Leechburg

HARRISBURG – Rep. Abby Major (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland) and Sen. Joe Pittman (R-Armstrong/Indiana/Jefferson/Westmoreland) today announced more than $32,000 in Local Share Account (LSA) grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for projects in Hyde Park and West Leechburg.

Act 71 of 2004 provides for the distribution of LSA gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“I’m pleased to see funds distributed back to the community from Live! Casino Pittsburgh as part of the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act,” Major said. “Both of these grants address important needs. Without these funds, it could have placed an additional financial burden on residents to make them a reality.”

“I appreciate Rep. Major’s leadership in advocating for these local projects,” Pittman said. “The investment of these grant funds will have a positive impact within the community, helping Hyde Park Borough and West Leechburg Borough with needed upgrades.”

Those receiving grants are:

• Hyde Park Borough – $12,541 to purchase a new hose with connectors for Hyde Park Volunteer Fire Company to eliminate the need to carry several different adaptors to connect to other hoses during an emergency.
• West Leechburg Borough – $20,685 to replace the 30-year-old HVAC system in the borough building.

The 60th Legislative District covers Bethel, Burrell, Cadogan, East Franklin, Gilpin, Kiskiminetas, Manor, North Buffalo, Parks, South Bend and South Buffalo townships and Apollo, Applewold, Ford City, Ford Cliff, Freeport, Leechburg, Manorville, North Apollo and West Kittanning boroughs in Armstrong County and Allegheny Township, East Vandergrift, Hyde Park, Vandergrift and West Leechburg boroughs, and part of the city of Lower Burrell in Westmoreland County.
