Major to Host Shredding Event, Coffee and Conversation
May 9, 2024
HARRISBURG – Rep. Abby Major (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland) today announced she is hosting two events next week.
The first is a free shredding event on Friday, May 17, 9-11 a.m., at the Allegheny Township Municipal Building, 136 Community Building Road, Leechburg. The second event is a Coffee and Conversation on Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Apollo Memorial Library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Apollo.
“I have held both of these events previously, and they have proven popular,” Major said. “I encourage you if you have personal documents to please bring them to the shredding event so they can be securely destroyed. This is just one way to prevent identity theft. In addition, if you have a state-related issue or would like to talk about concerns, I look forward to seeing you at the Coffee and Conversation.”
Acceptable items at the shredding event include all paper and manila folders. No more than three bags or boxes per household are permitted, and no businesses, please. Staples or paper clips do not need to be removed. No large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted. Materials more than one-inch thick will need to be broken down prior to being put through the machines. Progressive Workshop will shred the items off-site.
The Coffee and Conversation is the second of a number of informal events at locations throughout the 60th Legislative District this year. When further events are set, information will be available on Major’s website at RepAbbyMajor.com and on her Facebook page at Facebook.com/RepAbbyMajor.
The 60th Legislative District covers Bethel, Burrell, Cadogan, East Franklin, Gilpin, Kiskiminetas, Manor, North Buffalo, Parks, South Bend and South Buffalo townships and Apollo, Applewold, Ford City, Ford Cliff, Freeport, Leechburg, Manorville, North Apollo and West Kittanning boroughs in Armstrong County and Allegheny Township, East Vandergrift, Hyde Park, Vandergrift and West Leechburg boroughs, and part of the city of Lower Burrell in Westmoreland County.
